Food has a special way of bringing comfort, connection, and a sense of home. As a Kitchen Volunteer at Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin, you will help create a warm and welcoming experience for residents, families, staff, and fellow volunteers through meal preparation, food service, and kitchen support.
No kitchen experience is required. Our chefs are happy to teach and mentor volunteers, and there is truly something for everyone. Whether you enjoy preparing ingredients, baking, serving meals, washing dishes, organizing supplies, or helping keep the kitchen running smoothly, your contribution makes a meaningful difference.
Our kitchen operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, ensuring residents receive comforting meals and families have access to refreshments and a welcoming space at any time. Volunteers are an important part of making this possible.
Volunteer shifts are available:
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working as part of a team, learning new skills, and helping others through simple acts of care. Every meal served, dish washed, and task completed helps create a comfortable and supportive environment for those in our care and the loved ones who visit them.
